Sony Xperia Z3 very slow after Android Lollipop Update – Solved

Once you have upgraded your Sony Xperia Z3 to the new Android lollipop, it may happen that you have performance problems with your smartphone. These are for example:

  • Surface of Android is suddenly very slow
  • Apps are determinated unexpectedly
  • Battery degrades very quickly after the update
  • and much more performance problems

In general, these problems are related to the new Android Lollipop firmware update on your Sony Xperia Z3. To renounce a reset to factory settings, you must perform first the following procedure: Wipe cache partition

The Wipe cache partition deletes the Sony Xperia Z3 cache. Only system temporary files are deleted but NO personal data such as photos, SMS, contacts, etc . And the Wipe cache partition on the Sony Xperia Z3 works as follows:

While your Sony Xperia Z3 is turned on, press the power on/ off button and the volume louder button simultaneously and keep it pressed until the display of the Sony Xperia Z3 goes out and the phone vibrates three times. Then release all buttons.

The Wipe cache partition has now been successfully carried out on the Sony Xperia Z3. You can now start the Sony Xperia Z3 as usual via the power button again.

The performance of your Sony Xperia Z3 should now improved greatly.

I just tried this and it makes some things better, but chrome is unresponsive and my SwiftKey keyboard is still super laggy even as I type this. Sony better fix this soon, the z3 plus will be the last xperia I own.

Thanks a LOT!! Pre Lollipop my phone was super quick. After the upgrade I've been having all sorts of lagging, crashing apps etc. In less then 3 minutes it's the "super fine" phone I bought last september. To those of you who wonders if this works: "Just Do It!"

Hey Thanks for the great HELP.

Guys if this does not work try the below my ph is back to normal
Boot into safe mode:

Press and hold the Power Key until you see a list of options. These options should read: “Power off,” “Airplane mode,” and “Take Screenshot”
Hold the “Power off” option until you receive a window prompt asking whether you’d like to “Reboot to safe mode.”
Tap “OK”
You should see “Safe Mode” in the lower left hand corner of the screen.
Force reset:

Remove the cover for the micro SIM
Use a pen tip to hold the yellow restart button until the device turns off.

I tried holding both buttons at the same time, but nothing happened. It didn't vibrate three times or even once.

I had this issue with the latest xperia update. I found out it was related to app permissions, which have changed in Android 6.0. The upgrade process disallowed some built in apps, and these were constantly restarting in the background. This, along with re-enabling all my built in apps, made a big difference. Also a clear cache partition worked wonders too. My phone now behaves itself, and runs very fast.

If you have the chance to avoid 5.1.1, you should take it. This "upgrade" makes your fone useless. Connection drops out many times a day, and will not be re-established without interaction by you. So many incoming calls are lost, mobile internet does not work fluently, apps freeze. Battery charge goes down very fast. - Resetting does not work for many users. Sony relegates the problems as "singular cases", with no need to be fixed. - I think the best fix is to get a fone which is NOT made by Sony.

I really hate the lollipop update and am desperately trying to find a way to get rid of it but so far with no luck. I was very happy with kitkat and during the process of updating my phone it's also managed to somehow decide that the sd card is unreadable and I've now lost all of my contacts which were stored on it as well as nearly all my apps. I desperately want it off and I cannot find a way, it really is time to stop messing around with what works and people like. I spent hours last night trying to find a way to get rid of it and then make it as much like kitkat as possible when I couldn't. Very hacked off that I can't get kitkat back!
