Samsung Galaxy S7 text message - how to change input mode

You can change the input mode on the Samsung Galaxy S7 for text messages. The following input modes are available: GSM alphabet, Unicode and Automatic. Depending on the mode in which you want to send your SMS messages, you must make the right setting within the message app.

We will show you where you can change the input mode for text messages on the Samsung Galaxy S7:

From the home screen of the smartphone, go to:

Menu --> Settings --> Applications --> Messages --> More Settings --> messages

In this submenu you will find the entry "Input mode". Tap this and you can then select from the following three options for your Samsung Galaxy S7:

  • GSM
  • alphabet
  • Unicode
  • Automatic

GSM alphabet is entered here maybe as standard. This can lead to problems with the display of your sent SMS on other smartphones. If this is the case, we recommend to send the input mode for SMS to "Automatic".

You now know how to change the input mode for SMS messages on the Samsung Galaxy S7.
