Samsung recently introduced a new memory card type, the UFS memory card. UFS is the abbreviation and stands for "Universal Flash Storage", meaning universally usable memory. The title is nothing special, but behind it hides a fast data miracle.
Because UFS memory cards can be described with high data rates and read even faster. A brief technical info about UFS memory cards:
- Reading speed: 480 MB/ s
- Write rate: 170 MB/ s
- Available sizes: 32 GB, 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB
If this new memory card type aroused your interest you may have the question:
Can I use a UFS memory card in the micro SD card slot of my smartphone, camera, MP3 player, etc.?
Unfortunately, the answer to this question is no. Since it is a completely new type of memory, it is still not possible to use UFS memory cards in a slot made for Micro SD cards.
However, it is quite conceivable that software updates or card adapters make the UFS memory card compatible and therefore can be used in "old" Micro SD card slots.
