Samsung Galaxy S9 Answer Calls with Key - Solved!

On the Samsung Galaxy S9, you can answer calls by pressing the green slider on the screen. If this is too complicated for you, then we have a better solution. And that is call acceptance by means of a key.

The volume key is used here. To use it, however, you must first activate the option in the settings.

Answer calls by pressing the volume key – How it works

  1. Open the phone app, which is usually located on the home screen (app with green handset)
  2. Touch the three-point symbol in the upper right corner of the screen.
  3. Select "Settings" from the context menu
  4. Navigate to "Answer and end calls"
  5. The first option is now "Answer calls with the volume key"
  6. Activate this option - done! When you receive a call on the Samsung Galaxy S9, you can simply answer it by pressing the Volume Up button once.

This is easier and you don't have to wipe around on the display anymore. The advantage of answering calls using the key is that you can also answer a call with wet hands. Otherwise this only works with great difficulty ;-)

I have a galaxy s9+ and can no longer answer calls with a single tap. This is so annoying that I am most likely going to buy a different brand phone.

I am very disappointed also. Yes you can make a change in settings but that causes an acsesability icon to appear on ALL screens. Poor update choice for those who just don't want to swipe.

But it's been two years this month since I bought this phone - makes me wonder if I'm being forced to buy another!!

Yo me this is almost false advertising, we buy this $1000 dollar phone, get a update thats mandatory, and its took a few good features from this phone, like swiping instead of tap, beauty blender is gone, their was so many different stuff for taking good pictures, is gone, and last the icons look fake, like for weather it used to be a picture of a real sun now it all looks like a kid phone. They need to give us a better update, or let us go back to oreo.

Very annoyed that the latest software update took away the capability to tap the phone icon directly from the screen to answer a call.

I have an S8+ and my phone was updated this morning. I no longer can use the green phone button to answer incoming calls and I am livid! I will go get a phone that I can use! This is ridiculous for what this phone cost to begin with!!!!!!

Totally hacked off that I can't just push the call icon to answer a call. Why r there not options to select from as to how a user wants to answer calls?

Go to settings, Accessibility.,interaction and dexterity, turn on Single Tap to swipe. When this is on you now can answer phone calls simply hitting the green answer icon or hangups using the red icon.

Disappointed that I can no longer use the phone icon to answer calls with a single tap. Defeats the reason for why there is a handset in the telephone app.
