Huawei P20 Eye icon in status bar – Meaning

If you own a Huawei P20, you will notice several new functions and icons that are not available on other smartphones. We want to go into one of these icons in more detail here - the eye icon, which is displayed in the status bar of the Huawei P20.

What does this sign mean and how can the function be deactivated? You can find all the information you need here:

Eye icon on the Huawei P20 - Meaning and Function

The eye icon in the notification bar of the Huawei P20 is always visible when the "Save Eyes" mode is activated. This mode filters the blue light out of the display and thus prevents visual fatigue.

The display therefore has warmer colors, which at first seems strange, but in the long run it is more pleasant for the eyes. The Eye Protection mode can be deactivated or scheduled automatically. This works as follows:

  • Now select "Save Eyes"

You can now deactivate the mode via the On/Off switch or you can plan the time by activating the controller under "Schedule".

Now you know what the eye icon is on your Huawei P20 and what this icon does. Do you use the Eye Protection mode on the Huawei P20? Let us know in the comments below.

I have my p20 for 3 months and just yesterday i discovered this feature and i unabled it. Difference is huge, really there is no strain on my eyes, and there is no way that i return to the previous setting. For first few minutes i didn't like it but after that is perfectly normal and i'm not ever turning it of.
I am highly recomending it to everyone.

I am unsure if the mode makes a difference for helping eye strain, I will need to switch between the two. I find it far harder to see what is displayed on Google maps sat nav at night on this phone than my previous phone (with a smaller screen), which I assume is a negative consequence. I find the eye icon annoying and an unnecessary use of space (particularly as there are no accessable features when dragged down, like to get rid of the thing).

I use it always and have had less problems with eyestrain. Thanks for the info. I am more comfortable knowing why the icon is there.

I use it because I get headaches looking at a normal blue light screen. It's not weird to look at to be honest. Just easier on the eyes.
