If you send an SMS with the Samsung Galaxy S8, then you can request a so-called delivery report or acknowledgment of receipt. What does that mean exactly? An SMS delivery report informs you that the recipient has received the SMS on the device. This is very useful because you know so well that the SMS has arrived.
An SMS delivery report can be activated on the Samsung Galaxy S8 as follows:
- From the start screen, open the "Messages" app via which SMS can be sent
- In the overview, please select the three-dot symbol in the top right corner and then "Settings"
- Then navigate to: Additional Settings -> SMS
- Activate the option "delivery reports"
From now on, delivery reports will be requested by the mobile service provider for each message sent. This causes no additional costs.
A delivery report is not the same as a read receipt!
For an SMS message that has already been sent, a delivery report can no longer be requested. More information here.
