Samsung Galaxy Note 4 How to deactivate fingerprint scanner

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is equipped with a fingerprint scanner. With this it is very easy to unlock your phone using your finger without entering a pin, gesture or password. However, the fingerprint scanner does not work quite as good as you would have perhaps desired. So it may be that after initial tests of the fingerprint scanner you want to disable it. How this works on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 we explain to you now in this article.

Open from the home screen the app menu and then the settings. Tap there on the button with "lock screen" and in the next sub-menu in the section "Screen Security" at "screen lock".

Confirm now with a fingerprint that you would like to open this submenu. Then you can now select for your Samsung Galaxy Note 4 one of the following unlock methods for your lock screen:

    - Swipe
    - Pattern
    - Pin
    - Password
    - None

Voila, that's it. You now have the fingerprint scanner on your Samsung Galaxy Note 4 disabled and replaced by another alternative method.

I went to apps, settings, security, phone administrator, turn on support and protect, then you can go back to your finger print option finger print manager and simply delete. Good luck 8)

You have to go to Settings > Security > down to Clear Credentials and select it. Then go back to Lock Screen and it will be available.

Couldn't select swipe or none, cleared my trusted credentials and went back to try again and it worked. Hope this helps

this did not work, swipe or none were not highlighted as a choice. Can only be turned off by administrator

Ditto with Peter - I made the mistake of setting the finger scan and now I cannot get rid of it. My personal iPhone is solid and this Samsung 4 Note finger scan feature leaves much to be desired!

I wanted to disable my finger print scanner because it was no longer accepting my finger after a week or hard graft by skin is so rough. But since it requires a finger print scan to disable the finger print scan I cannot. Can't even use my backup...

I wanted to disable my finger print scanner because it was no longer accepting my finger after a week or hard graft by skin is so rough. But since it requires a finger print scan to disable the finger print scan I cannot. Can't even use my backup password. Can't even change the backup password to something simpler because that too requires the scanner.
