Android Lollipop WhatsApp messages are "hidden content" on lock screen

If you use the new Android Lollipop 5.0  on your Samsung Galaxy S5, it may be that the text from new WhatsApp messages on the lock screen is hidden. Instead, you only see "WhatsApp - hidden content".

This is a new feature of Android Lollipop, which allows you to hide contents of new SMS and WhatsApp messages on the lock screen. Thus, it is not possible that someone can read the content in a new arrived message when the smartphone is locked. If you interfere with this feature and you want to have displayed the complete message on the lock screen again, then you have to do the following settings:

Open on your Samsung Galaxy S5 (Also works on other Android Lollipop smartphones) the app menu and then the settings. Tap here on "sounds and notifications". Now scroll all the way down to the section "notification" and tap there on "While locked". A window opens in which you can now select "Show All Content". Finish!
If you now receive a new sms or new WhatsApp message on your Samsung Galaxy S5, then the content of it is directly displayed on the lock screen.

I realize this thread is old, so it's time to rant about it again... this change to the notification setting is incomplete: there should also be a "allow content on lock screen" for each application along with "Block all notifications"<br />The way it is today (04/12/2016) is that you have an "all or nothing" setup, which is not what most of the users want.<br />For example, I block all by default, but I *must* the notifications from my garage door displayed the moment it opens while I don't care for anything else.

Jesus christ this should have been so easy, but it wasnt. Why would they put it there and not under the 'Lock screen' menu under settings?? Anyways, thanks so much, this has been driving me nuts!

Hi, the solution u'v specified not only hides the msg content but also name of the sender on the lock screen. Isnt there any way through which we can just see name of the sender and not msg preview on lock screen status bar or notification panel?...

Hi, the solution u'v specified not only hides the msg content but also name of the sender on the lock screen. Isnt there any way through which we can just see name of the sender and not msg preview on lock screen status bar or notification panel? Another new problem i am facing is banners in some applications such as whatsapp and snapchat. Either you are in the application or out of it, any new msg flashes in banner which appears on top of the screen showing sender name and msg content. If you dont read the msg, it just increases the msg count numbr i<br /> upcoming msg but if u read the msg and go on some other screen and if u receive another msg it again flashes as a banner with the sender name and msg content which is too annoying. This is an iPhone feature (iPhone banners dont show msg content though), but in iPhone you have an option to disable banners why not here ? Please help if there us any way to disable this feature.
