Android Lollipop - New symbol circle with line in status bar

If you have upgraded your smartphone to the latest Android software Android lollipop, then it may be, that you see the following icon in the status bar:

  • A circle with a horizontal line in the middle

This symbol means that you have enabled the interruption mode and set it to "none." This means that you will not receive any notifications such as calls, SMS messages, alarm tones etc. on your smartphone.

To disable this mode on Android lollipop, you simply have to do the following on your smartphone:
Pull down the status bar with two fingers and tap on the button with "None" or the circle symbol with the line in the middle.

Have you touched the button, then the mode is switched from "None" to "All". The symbol disappears in the status bar and you get back all notifications on your Android lollipop smartphone.
You now know what the symbol "circle with line" in the status bar of your smartphone means.

This is hard to explain but in my status bar there is a + in the center of a ring, which is 2/3 highlighted. Kinda looks like a crescent moon & star if I blur my vision lol.

It's not a solid circle, like the minus bar & circle symbol for when do not disturb mode is on, as stated here.

This is due to soundless notification.just up your notification and call volume and the problem will be solved.

Amanda I agree I have the same phone and I still have that minus sign but I still get notifications

Ruby... it sounds to me like the symbol you have means your phone is on silent. Turn up your volume and see if it disappears.

Just press your volume button up once problem solved

Go to settings, then sounds and notifications, then do not disturb. Turn off

It's not the notifications and it's not on silent either it's a white circle with a black diagonal like through the middle.
