Android Lollipop - New symbol circle with line in status bar

If you have upgraded your smartphone to the latest Android software Android lollipop, then it may be, that you see the following icon in the status bar:

  • A circle with a horizontal line in the middle

This symbol means that you have enabled the interruption mode and set it to "none." This means that you will not receive any notifications such as calls, SMS messages, alarm tones etc. on your smartphone.

To disable this mode on Android lollipop, you simply have to do the following on your smartphone:
Pull down the status bar with two fingers and tap on the button with "None" or the circle symbol with the line in the middle.

Have you touched the button, then the mode is switched from "None" to "All". The symbol disappears in the status bar and you get back all notifications on your Android lollipop smartphone.
You now know what the symbol "circle with line" in the status bar of your smartphone means.

It’s in the WiFi calling settings, switch it back to the default mode of ‘WiFi Preferred’. My phone was on ‘never use cellular network’and I switched it and now it’s fine and the circle w/ the slash is now gone

This is hard to explain but in my status bar there is a + in the center of a ring, which is 2/3 highlighted. Kinda looks like a crescent moon & star if I blur my vision lol.

It's not a solid circle, like the minus bar & circle symbol for when do not disturb mode is on, as stated here.

Ruby... it sounds to me like the symbol you have means your phone is on silent. Turn up your volume and see if it disappears.
