Samsung Galaxy S5 Android Lollipop free up disk space - Tips

There ison your Samsung Galaxy S5 with Android Lollipopa quick and easy way to free up disk space, without deleting pictures or videos or apps. How this works, we will tell you here in this article now.

Gaining space in Android lollipop on the Samsung Galaxy S5 works by deleting the "cached data". This data is stored over time on your Samsung Galaxy S5 and consists basically of temporary files that are not needed. These files can simply be deleted without worries and thus a large portion of device memory can be freed. The cached data sometimes requires several gigabytes of your device space, depending on how long ago you have deleted the cached data on your smartphone.

In the following sub-menu of the Samsung Galaxy S5 with Android Lollipop the cached data can be deleted:

Open from the home screen of the Samsung Galaxy S5 the menu and then "Storage". You now see the summaryscreen and how your device space is used.

Tap now on "cached data" to delete it. A message pops up with an information if you really want to do that.

Now, if you tap on "OK", this will delete everything of the cached data on your Samsung Galaxy S5 and the internal device memory is freed from these files. It is important to know that no important data is deleted, but just temporary system files.

You know now how can free up space on the Samsung Galaxy S5 with Android Lollipop.

Thanks for the tip. Cached data went from 1.2GB to 28k. Maybe now I can stop getting the Amazon Music crashed message.

Freed up about 4 gig. Much better alternative to the option offered at the Verizon wireless store which was to take the phone back to factory settings.
