Samsung Galaxy S6 dropped into water - First Aid Tips

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is not like his predecessor waterproof, which means that even a small amount of water contact may lead to a technical defect of the smartphone. Unfortunately, it happens every now and then, that a smartphone like the Samsung Galaxy S6 is in contact with water.
Common causes are:

• Samsung Galaxy S6 has fallen in the bathtub
• Samsung Galaxy S6 forgotten to take out of the pocket and jumped in the pool
• Samsung Galaxy S6 fallen into the toilet
• Samsung Galaxy S6 fell into the pond
• and many more

Most of the time the smartphone can still be rescued after contact with water if done right. Here are a few very important smartphone first aid tips for you:
If you notice that the smartphone has come into contact with water, it shall be considered first:

Turn your Samsung Galaxy S6 off! Press the Power On/ Off button and let it shutdown. So no more current flows through the Samsung Galaxy S6, which means that no short-circuiting can occur through the water, which may damage the unit.

Carefully dry the device as much as possible with a cloth. Opens the Sim card tray, which also ensures water can loose from the device.
Lay the smartphone now to an airy place with indirect sunlight or on a heater on low power to dry it. To accelerate the evaporation from Samsung Galaxy S6, you can place it in a bowl of rice.
Rice has the property to dehydrate of its surrounding water or moisture, which helps you in the water damage with the Samsung Galaxy S6. Let the phone dry until you think that no moisture is in your machine. This can also take 1-2 days in advance!

If you are convinced that the water or moisture was completely evaporated from the Samsung Galaxy S6, then you can now switch on the device. It now flows first time power through your smartphone.

Now test that all functions of your Samsung Galaxy S6 are working properly. To end this, we RECOMMEND you to take a look into the secret test menu: test hardware function
Depending on how long the Samsung Galaxy S6 was in the water and to what extent, for example, just splashing around or really completely in the water, this has an impact on the hardware. If you've followed our advice, then the chances are good that your Samsung Galaxy S6 has survived the water accident unscathed.

I accidentally spilt water on my phone and now the colour of the screen keeps changing and it later shut down ( black screen) I then put my phone in a bowl of rice and am waiting for the results. I couldn't open my sim card though

take out the SIM tray and then put the phone in front of a fan to dry out. Make sure to turn your phone off so that it doesn't overheat!

What was the outcome? I Legit just did the same thing! Went to pee and left my phone in the back of my jeans pocket. I guess it plopped out as I was sitting down. Went to wipe and wondered why in the world the bowl was glowing! I took my sim card out and dried it what I could and shoved it in a bowl of rice. I hope your end result was a phone that still worked.

I dropped mine in the cats water. Grabbed it immediately, was still on. Didn't see this site until later. But we had placed in rice for a couple of hours immediately. Just didn't shut it off or open the Sims Tray. The phone appears to work but says it is overheating and shutsofff so I have it back in rice with all the things done. Am going to leave it in there for 24 hours until i try it again.

I dropped mine in the toilet yesterday. Got it out immediately and dried it, was still on. Did not turn it off or open the sim though. Like 10 - 20 minutes later it shut down due to the device overheating but it wasn't hot to the touch. I was at work so I couldn't do nothing but wait. On the way home I put it on the air vent in car and turned on the heat to see if that would help dry out any excess water that may have been inside still. I was able to charge it when I got home it seems to be working okay but some of the apps like FB are having technical issues like are slower but I think I can live with it for now.

After I dropped mine into the sink it was ok for a few minutes... the screen then started to flicker and eventually went out. Is this a short? Now a day later the phone turns on, but the screen itself is dead, it responds to my touch every once...

After I dropped mine into the sink it was ok for a few minutes... the screen then started to flicker and eventually went out. Is this a short? Now a day later the phone turns on, but the screen itself is dead, it responds to my touch every once in a while and makes noises like it would if it was actually working. I love this phone, and I really want to know if there is any way to repair it or, if a repair is even necessary

Took a dive in the lake and forgot phone was in my pocket, took it out and shook it, leaving it to try in the sun. Three hours later I placed it in a bag of rice. I hope it lives to breath another day
