Samsung Galaxy S5 How to deactivate CB messages?

If you receive CB messages on your Samsung Galaxy S5, which you want to turn off we would like to show you in our guide how to proceed. At first: CB stands for Cell broadcast and it is a chance of your provider to send messages to a group of smartphones, which are logged in a specific cell tower. The most messages you will receive via Cell Broadcast are marketing messages of your mobile operator.

To disable CB messages on the Samsung Galaxy S5 please complete the following steps:

Open Menu -> Settings -> Section "Applications" -> Cell Broadcast

In this submenu you will find a button in the top right. Turn it from "On" to "Off". You have now deactivated Cell Broadcast Messages on your Samsung galaxy S5 and will not receive CB Messages in future.

I have been getting the same meaningless CB message every day from another network provider which my network provider say they cannot block. I have to block it on my phone. When I look up CB messages it tells me that they are very useful for national messages in times of emergency - why do I have to turn this function off to block unwanted ads when I could need it if there were a bad storm, earthquake, forest fire etc??? Surely this should be reserved solely for this kind of service.

I found it difficult, but done it in the end.<br />Settings all the way to the end of applications, click messages in between internet and planner, then you will see at the top of the screen default messaging app scroll down until you find cell broadcast it will be set to on tap on it and it will bring another page up, at the top right corner tap the round button it will go from green to white or grey, you have now managed to stop cell broadcast. Come out of settings and that is it, good luck, John

Both tips are a bit wrong. Correct path is Open Menu -> Settings -> Section "Applications" -> Messages -> Cell Broadcast
