Android Oreo - Changelog of the new firmware 8.0

Android Oreo will be the new operating system with the version number 8.0. This will be available for many models as a firmware update. But it can take a while. Because many manufacturers are lagging behind with the software update.

So far, let's introduce you to the changes compared to Android 7. More about this in the following changelog to Android Oreo:

Changelog - Changes with Android Oreo on your smartphone or tablet:

  1. Faster startup speed and stability

Android Oreo should boot twice as fast as Android 7. And the system should run more stable and fewer crashes to produce.

  1. Longer battery life

Apps should be even more prevented from running in the background.

  1. More security - Play Protect

A hint should be shown in the Play Store, which should inform the user when an app poses a potential danger, for example from a virus. This new feature, called Play-Protect, is like a virus scanner. This checks also installed apps.

  1. Mark texts more simply - Smart Text Selection

A selection help should make it much easier for the user of Android O to mark and copy sections of text. So phone numbers or addresses are marked by a simple tap. The software should be smart enough to extend this to other text modules.

  1. Picture-in-picture mode

This makes it possible to use an app while watching a video. However, such a feature already exists, for example, on Samsung Galaxy devices with the pop-up player. To what extent a benefit prevails here remains to be seen.

  1. Themes for notifications

You can sort notifications by topics and thus control them better. For example, you can disable all notifications related to "games" or "news".

  1. Auto-complete passwords are now automatically used across systems by Google.

This means you only need to link to Google Account on new devices and your passwords will be automatically used.

These were the main changes in Android Oreo. In our opinion, nothing earth shattering but certainly an improvement in the operating system and stability itself.
