Eye symbol on the status bar of the Samsung Galaxy S4

If you see in the status bar of your Samsung Galaxy S4 an eye, then you may wonder what significance has this icon has on your smartphone. We now want to explain for what function the eye icon at your Samsung Galaxy S4 stands and how you can hide this again.

The eye icon in the status bar appears when you use a function of SmartScreen. SmartScreen uses the movement of your eyes to turn on or off certain features on the Samsung Galaxy S4. There are the following functions with SmartScreen:

  • Smart Stay: The screen of your Samsung Galaxy S4 will remain lit, as you look at him.
  • Intelligent rotation: With this function, the screen rotates depending on the orientation of your face.
  • Smart Pause: In this option, a video is paused when you look away from the Samsung Galaxy S4
  • Smart Scroll: By tilting the head you can scroll on a website up or down.

If you have activated one of these functions, then the eye icon appears in the status bar of the Samsung Galaxy S4.

And so you turn off smart screen and its functions:

To do so, tap Menu --> My Device --> SmartScreen

Remove at the first three options the small tick in the check box and slide at the last function the controller from "On" to "Off".

Then you have no function of SmartScreen enabled on your Samsung Galaxy S4, which means that the eye icon has disappeared from the status bar and is no longer displayed.
