Reset Garmin Forerunner to factory defaults - procedure

If you have a Garmin Forerunner 225/230/235/630, you may want to reset it to factory defaults. For example, the cause may be that the device is not working properly or you want to sell it.

In a factory reset, also called a hard reset, all data on the fitness tracker will be deleted and then the original configuration will be reloaded. This is how it works for:

Garmin Forerunner 225, Garmin Forerunner 230, Garmin Forerunner 235, Garmin Forerunner 630

Performing a factory reset on the Forerunner Fitness Watch:

  1. Turn off the Fitness Tracker
  2. Press and hold the down arrow button and turn the device on as usual with the Power On / Off button
  3. Hold down the button until "Erase user data?" appears on the display.
  4. Release the button
  5. Use the up arrow button and the red button on the top right to select "Yes" - Done! The factory reset is now carried out and all user data deleted!

You now know how to perform a factory reset on a Garmin Forerunner device.
