The Star is one of the new features and is called "interruptions" mode. It can be activated under Android Lollipop in the settings of the Samsung Galaxy S5. If the interruptions mode is set as "Important" a star symbol appears in the notification bar of your Samsung Galaxy S5 with Android lollipop. The status of "Important" in the "interrupt mode", which is also called "priority mode", means that only calls and notifications appear which you have previously considered as important.

Menu --> Settings --> Sound & Notifications --> interruptions
