There are different mobile radio networks in the USA. These include the network standards GSM, UMTS and LTE. One often speaks of 2G, 3G and 4G. Each network has its advantages and disadvantages.
Thus, the GSM network is particularly well developed and widely available. However, it is very slow as regards the speed of the mobile internet. LTE, on the other hand, is very fast, but it is not yet available in all parts of the USA.
Sometimes it is useful, especially if one urgently calls, to put the Samsung Galaxy S8 in the so-called GSM mode. The smartphone is "forced" to connect only to the GSM network. This way you can usually use the best voice quality.
We show you how to switch the Samsung Galaxy S8 into the GSM mode
1. Open the app menu and there the Android system settings
2. From here go on to "Connections" and "Mobile Networks"
3. In this submenu you can now select "Network mode". Choose the entry. A menu appears, in which various options or connection modes are available.
4. Now select "Only 2G" - done!
Your Samsung Galaxy S8 will from now on connect only with the 2G or the GSM network of your mobile phone provider.
