Samsung Galaxy S8 How to rename photos within gallery - solved

Have you taken several photos with the camera of the Samsung Galaxy S8 or saved other pictures in the gallery? Then you might want to rename them. Because each photo gets a continuous picture number, which says little.

To change a photo on the Samsung Galaxy S8 there are two methods. Via the Gallery App or a File Explorer:

Samsung Galaxy S8

Gallery:

You can view the photo in the gallery. Tap the symbol with a circle at the top and an "i" in the center. This will now display the details of the photo. You can see the file name of the image in the lower area. This can now be edited.

File Explorer

You can also use the My Documents File Explorer. This is located in the app menu in the "Samsung" folder.

If the file explorer is opened, please now open the folder with the photo, which you would like to rename.

For pictures of the camera this is for example:

  • Memory --> DCIM --> Camera

Press long at the photo whose filenames you want to change until it is highlighted. Then select the three-point icon in the upper-right corner and “Rename” in the context menu.

A window appears where you can now change the name of the image. Finished!

You now know how to easily rename a photo with the already installed apps on the Samsung Galaxy S8.
