Android Smartphones

If you use the application "Helium Backup" to back up your app data on your Android smartphone, then the following question may arise:
Where does helium backup stores my app backups?

This question is important because helium backup only offers the following options to save a backup:

• Internal device memory
• Cloud

Since it is a backup app which is used mostly before a factory reset, it makes little sense to backup to the internal memory. So you have to copy the backup folder from internal memory manually via USB cable to the computer. For this purpose, it is important to know where the backup files from helium backup are stored.
You can find the files here, after the Android smartphone is connected to the PC:

phone / carbon /

The folder is not visible to the File Explorer "My Documents" of your Android smartphone. Therefore, you should copy this folder directly to the PC. You know now there you can find on your Android smartphone backups that you have created with "Helium Backup".

It can happen to you after the update to Android Lollipop on your Samsung Galaxy S5 that suddenly old SMS messages are automatically deleted from your smartphone. The reason for this is easily explained.

"Delete old messages" in the SMS app. The function is activated automatically in Android Lollipop 5.0. This will delete all SMS messages that exceed the maximum amount of messages by 100, beginning with the oldest messages. Of course this is annoying as you intend to keep messages for a long time on your phone. Therefore it is essential to disable this setting after updating to Android Lollipop with your Samsung Galaxy S5.

We show how one can prevent the Samsung Galaxy S5 with Android lollipop to auto-delete old SMS messages:

Open from the home screen the menu and then the Android messages app that manages your SMS messages for you. Tap in the overview on the three-point icon at the top right and scroll down in the pop-up menu a bit. Select here the menu item "Settings". In the settings you see now roughly in the center of the screen "Delete old messages". Tap on the entry. In the next menu you can now disable this feature by setting the slider from "On" to "Off". Finished!

From now on, no more SMS messages are deleted automatically from your Samsung Galaxy S5 with Android lollipop.

If you have updated your Samsung Galaxy S5 on the new Android lollipop 5.0, then it may happen that it is a lot slower than the old operating system. The reason is usually due to the update process itself. Since Android lollipop 5.0 is a "major update" performance problems are almost inevitable. You can do remedy with the two methods here.

A safe method is to perform a factory reset. Thus, the entire system will be deleted and then reinstalled. However, since this means a lot of work for you, we would like to present you a less time-expensive method, which can work very well.

This is the so called "wipe cache partition". We recommend this method to you in any case after an update to Android lollipop 5.0 on your Samsung Galaxy S5. No data will be lost and your system will then run faster and smoother again.
The Wipe cache partition for your Samsung Galaxy S5 works as follows:
Switch off your Samsung Galaxy S5 by long pressing the Power On/ Off button. Wait until the device is turned off completly. Now you have to press the following keys to start the phone again:

• Power On / Off
• Volume up
• Home button

If the Samsung Galaxy S5 vibrates once, the release the power on/ off button, but keep the other two keys from the key combination pressed until a menu appears on the display.
Now mark the entry "Wipe cache partition" with the volume down key. With the power on / off button, the entry is marked and the process is started. This usually takes only a few seconds. Then the previously displayed menu appears again. Now select the first entry with "Reboot system now" and run the command again with a press of the power button.Your Samsung Galaxy S5 will now reboot.

You have now successfully performed a wipe cache on your Samsung Galaxy S5. Your phone should now run faster and make fewer problems with Android Lollipop 5.0. If not, then you have to perform a factory reset on your Samsung Galaxy S5.

Android Smartphones

If you use the new Android Lollipop 5.0  on your Samsung Galaxy S5, it may be that the text from new WhatsApp messages on the lock screen is hidden. Instead, you only see "WhatsApp - hidden content".

This is a new feature of Android Lollipop, which allows you to hide contents of new SMS and WhatsApp messages on the lock screen. Thus, it is not possible that someone can read the content in a new arrived message when the smartphone is locked. If you interfere with this feature and you want to have displayed the complete message on the lock screen again, then you have to do the following settings:

Open on your Samsung Galaxy S5 (Also works on other Android Lollipop smartphones) the app menu and then the settings. Tap here on "sounds and notifications". Now scroll all the way down to the section "notification" and tap there on "While locked". A window opens in which you can now select "Show All Content". Finish!
If you now receive a new sms or new WhatsApp message on your Samsung Galaxy S5, then the content of it is directly displayed on the lock screen.

Android Smartphones

With the Android Lollipop 5.0 Firmware Update the Samsung Galaxy S5 got a new feature: the so-called "Smart Lock". Smart Lock is a new feature which allows to set certain places as trusted sites.
These locations are then used to unlock the screen automatically and the pin or another method have not to be entered. This is especially useful if you use the pin or password method of securing the Samsung Galaxy S5.

This is automatically unlocked by Smart Lock, when you are for example at home.
Smart Lock is still in its infancy and the recognition works only about a location determined by GPS or a trusted device that is connected via Bluetooth. For example, define your own car as a trusted location for Smart Lock, when it is connected with the Samsung Galaxy S5. If you are asking yourself, where you can find Smart Lock on the Samsung Galaxy S5, then we would like to describe it briefly here:

On your Samsung Galaxy S5 with Android Lollipop open the app menu and then the settings. Tap on "Security" and scroll in the next submenu completely to the end of the list. In the section "Advanced" you will see the entry "Smart Lock". Tap on the entry and you can configure Smart Lock on your Samsung Galaxy S5.
Now you know where you can find on the Samsung Galaxy S5 the new "Smart Lock" Feature. If you can’t use it, make sure that Smart Lock is enabled in “trust Agents”.
