Apple has introduced iOS 11, iPhone 8 and iPhone X, a new format for its photos that promises better quality and reduced file size. The language is from the so-called HEIF format. HEIF stands for "High Efficiency Image File Format". The file extension of this format is. heic. Most gallery programs are not yet able to recognize this file format as it is very new.
