Samsung Galaxy Note 8 unknown character - circle with plus symbol

You may see a new unknown character in the status bar on your Samsung Galaxy Note 8, which has not yet been displayed to you. The language is of a circle, with a plus sign in the middle. If you now ask yourself where this sign comes from, we would like to tell you where it comes from:

The circle symbol with a + sign in the middle is a new feature of the Android operating system. It is the so-called "data saving". This function is included from Android nougat onwards in the form on the note 8 and should help you to save data volume in the mobile data network, which is very expensive here in Germany. If this function is enabled, the Plus icon will appear in the status bar of Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

Appearance does the whole thing as follows:

Below we would like to explain how to remove the circle symbol with the plus in the middle of the status bar from the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and how to deactivate the saving of data. Please proceed according to the following instructions:

  1. Opens the App menu on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and then the settings
  2. Tap on "Connections" and continue to "Data Usage".

Here you will find "Data Saving" - Select the entry and deactivate the option by means of the master controller.

From now on, the no longer unknown character will disappear from the notification bar. This will also increase your data consumption in the mobile network.
