In iOS 12, you can also enable or disable automatic software updates for the iPhone or iPad, so that new firmware updates will arrive on your iPhone or iPad as soon as possible.
If this has not yet been activated on your iPhone with iOS 12, you can find the option in the system settings as follows:
Enabling or disabling automatic firmware updates in iOS 12
1. Open the settings
2. Select "General
3. Then select the option "Software update" - "Automatic updates" will appear after a short moment
Select the entry and then activate or deactivate "Automatic updates by means of the controller".
From now on your iPhone should automatically receive iOS firmware updates as usual as soon as an internet connection is available.
If you have deactivated it, you will not receive any firmware updates until you reactivate the option or install it manually.
