At the factory, your iPhone shortens the last names for contacts for which you specify a last name. Short names are typically used for the Mail, Messages, Phone, and other third-party apps.
If you don't want to do this, it is possible to display the full name in the iPhone contact list again.
iPhone - How to disable short names on iPhone
1. Open the settings of your iPhone
2. Navigate to "Contacts".
3. Select the entry "short name".
4. Deactivate the option by setting the controller to "inactive
Here you can disable the short name on the iPhone so that you can display the full names in applications such as the news app etc..
You now know how to display the surnames in their full length and no longer as short names.
