Within the Android OS you can unlock special developer options that are not visible for the normal user.
Within the developer options there are several settings, but they are quite interesting, such as USB debugging.
Below we describe how you can unlock the developer options on Xiaomi smartphones:
Activate developer mode - Xiaomi smartphones
1. Open the settings
2. Navigate down to "Over the phone"
3. You should now see an entry with "MIUI version"
4. Tap at least 7 times on the entry - This unlocks the developer options
5. You can then open them via the settings and activate it
