WhatsApp comes with a default background immediately after installation. If this background is too boring for you or you just want to bring a breath of fresh air into your WhatsApp chats, you can of course customize this background.

1. open WhatsApp on your Android smartphone
2. Now navigate to the three dots symbol in the upper right corner and then in the context menu to Settings.
3. go now to "Chats".
Select "Background".
5. you can now choose from "Gallery", "Monochrome", "Predefined WhatsApp Backgrounds" or the default background
If you select "WhatsApp backgrounds", you may need to load them first.
6. after you have made a selection, search for a suitable background image in the gallery or in the corresponding application.
After you have confirmed the new image, it will now be displayed as background image in the chats.
This is the easiest way to set a background image for chats in WhatsApp.
