Display black and no reaction on the Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+ or S20 Ultra

Even if the Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+ or S20 Ultra is a brand new smartphone with the latest operating system, it is still possible that the device suddenly only shows a black display and no longer responds to input.

However, the smartphone is not off, but continues to consume battery power because the processor, RAM, sensors etc. continue to run in the background.

This is, of course, an unpleasant situation and that's why we would like to explain in the following article what can be done to make the "black screen" disappear and allow the Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+ or S20 Ultra to be used normally again.

Fixing the Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+ or S20 Ultra blackscreen problem

If you are affected by the problem that the display is completely black and the device does not respond to inputs, use either the simple or the extended soft reset as follows:

Simple Soft-Reset to solve a black screen

Please press the following button for at least 15 seconds:

  • Power On/ Off Button

The smartphone should now restart itself.

If nothing happens here, please use the advanced method, which solves the problem with the black screen to 99%.

Advanced soft reset if the device does not react and the display is black

For this purpose, the above mentioned key combination must be extended. Please press the following keys for at least 15 seconds:

  • Power On/ Off Button
  • Volume down key

At the latest now, the Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+ or S20 Ultra should reboot and restart the Android system as usual.
