Samsung Galaxy S20 and S10 flash icon Status bar Meaning

If you can see a small lightning bolt icon with an arrow pointing down in the status bar of your Samsung Galaxy S20 or S10, you will most likely wonder what function it stands for.

There are many icons in Android and with each version these change or new ones are added.

That's why we will now explain what the lightning icon in the status bar means and how to disable it.

Flash icon in status bar - meaning and how to deactivate it

The symbol in the form of a lightning bolt with an arrow pointing down stands for the so-called download booster.  If this function is active on the Samsung Galaxy S20 or S10, you can take advantage of an increased download speed.

This is achieved by coupling W-Lan and LTE connection. This way the data streams run over two channels and the speed of the download increases enormously. This function is always recommended when large files are involved and when the data volume of the LTE connection has no limits.

Otherwise the data traffic will be used up very quickly when the download booster is activated.

Deactivate the Download Booster

1.            Open the settings of your Samsung Galaxy S20 or S10.

2.            Navigate to "Connections" and then to "More Connection Settings".

3.            Select "Download Booster".

4.            Switch the function to "Inactive".

This means that the Download Booster function on your Samsung Galaxy S20 or S10 is no longer active and the lightning icon will disappear.

You now know the meaning of the lightning symbol and how to disable the "Download Booster" function on the Samsung Galaxy S20 or S10 so that the symbol fades out.
