What's worse than an automatic factory reset that erases all your private data on the Samsung Galaxy S8? We would like to draw your attention to a setting here today that can trigger just such an automatic result. The language is of a special security setting within the Android operating system. More about this below:

The security feature on the Samsung Galaxy S8 is:

• Reset automatically

After 15 wrong attempts to unlock the phone it will be reset to factory settings and all data, including files and downloaded apps will be deleted.

The danger posed by this safety function is obvious. Often we accidentally activated the screen while transporting the Samsung Galaxy S8 in our pocket or purse and then maybe entered a pin. If this is then registered as wrong and 15 times in succession, then your smartphone will automatically be deleted and reset to factory settings.

Of course you do not want this and that's why you should definitely disable this feature on the Samsung Galaxy S8!

To do this, open the app menu on the home screen of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and then:

Settings -> Device Security -> Secure Lock Settings

You see now the following display:

Deactivated here now:

• "Reset automatically"

So you have the security in the future that your Samsung Galaxy S8 is not reset automatically by accident.

In order to use the new Youtube HDR function, you need on the one hand a smartphone that has an HDR display, on the other hand the latest Youtube app with the version 12.34.55 or higher. If you have already installed this version on your smartphone, check as follows:

Check app version of Youtube:

1. Open the Youtube app on your smartphone
2. Now tap on the symbol with the three dots in the upper right corner and then on "Settings"
3. At the bottom you will see the item "About Youtube" - Tap on it and you will see the app version as penultimate entry

Should be here now 12:34:55 or higher, then you can use the new HDR feature in Youtube. This works great, for example, with the Samsung Galaxy S8 or the Galaxy Note 8.

If you connect the Samsung Galaxy S8 with the headphones, then a small headphone icon appears in the status bar. This will tell you that the device now outputs the sound through the headphones. If you remove these now, then the symbol should actually disappear.

If this still remains visible in the status bar, then please proceed as follows to solve the problem:

Plug in and unplug the headphones

It usually helps to plug in and unplug the headphones several times. This will clean the contact in the socket and cause the software to access the smartphone's speakers again.

Clean the headphone jack

Does not help, then the headphone jack of the Samsung Galaxy S8 must be cleaned. This is done in two steps:

1. Carefully dust dust and dirt from the headphone jack with a toothpick

2. Put the Samsung Galaxy S8 in a bowl of clean water for about 5 minutes (your Samsung Galaxy S8 is waterproof)

Then wait until the smartphone has dried again. To accelerate this, completely dry and then blow with a hair dryer on a low level and with cold air bubbles. Turns off the S8 completely and then turns the device on again. There should no longer be a headphone icon. If it does, then it may be that there is a defect. Anyone who installs and runs the Android 8 Oreo operating system on his smartphone may be surprised to hear a notification in the status bar: For example, it says, "Android System - apps running in the background". This message may be displayed permanently, which is annoying. This article explains why this message appears in Android Oreo and how you can hide it.

Reason for the message "Android System - Apps in the background active":

Android 8.0 Oreo has a new energy management on board, which acts restrictively against battery consumers. If you now have an app running in the background, such as a VPN, then Android Oreo will show you that this app runs in the background and consumes battery power. With this message in the status bar, you could now be active immediately and counteract. However, you often have apps running in the background that are supposed to. Thus, we come to our tip, how to hide the hint on Android Oreo or can no longer show:

Hide notification "Android System - Apps in the background active"

You will need the following app from the Google Play Store:

• Hide "running in the background" notification

If you have the app installed on your Android Oreo smartphone, open it and disable the "Android System - Background apps" message.

After that, you will no longer be notified in the notification bar of Android 8 about apps that are running in the background and might consume battery power.

On the Samsung Galaxy S8 you can permanently fade in the navigation bar at the bottom of certain apps. To do this simply type in the navigation bar twice on the icon leftmost. On the other hand, if you want to hide these, then you type again two times to the point. But what to do if the point suddenly disappears?

The solution lies in the system settings of Android. Because here is an option with which you can disable the "Show/ Hide" button in the navigation bar. And this feature is most likely disabled for you.

We'll show you where to find and re-enable this option on the Samsung Galaxy S8:

From the home screen of the Samsung Galaxy S8, open the App menu and then the settings. From here it continues on:

Right at the beginning you will see the option "Show / Hide button" - Activate it by setting the switch to active.

If you send an SMS with the Samsung Galaxy S8, then you can request a so-called delivery report or acknowledgment of receipt. What does that mean exactly? An SMS delivery report informs you that the recipient has received the SMS on the device. This is very useful because you know so well that the SMS has arrived.

An SMS delivery report can be activated on the Samsung Galaxy S8 as follows

1. From the start screen, open the "Messages" app via which SMS can be sent

2. In the overview, please select the three-dot symbol in the top right corner and then "Settings"

3. Then navigate to: Additional Settings -> SMS

4. Activate the option "delivery reports"

From now on, delivery reports will be requested by the mobile service provider for each message sent. This causes no additional costs.

A delivery report is not the same as a read receipt!

Many mobile service providers such as Vodafone, T-Mobile or O2 offer the possibility to request a delivery report for SMS messages. This means that when an SMS is sent and arrived at the recipient, the sender is informed about it.

Here you may ask the question if it is possible to request a delivery report for already sent SMS messages.

The answer is as follows:

• No it is not possible to subsequently request an SMS delivery report for messages that have already been sent.

You can send a new SMS as the only option after the Delivery report option has been activated. The delivery report is then requested for this SMS message.

For example, a delivery report can be activated on a Samsung Galaxy smartphone for SMS messages as follows.

At the beginning of the setup wizard, set up a default language for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. In this then the App menu and apps are displayed. If you would like to use another language in Android, you can of course change it. Our article and sample video explains how it works:

 To do this, start from the Home screen of your Note 8, and then navigate to the Android system settings as follows:

1. Open the App menu and then the settings
2. Scroll down to "General Administration" and select the item - Continue to "Language and input" and then "Language"

The Samsung Cloud offers you the possibility to save pictures, videos and other files online. You have 15 GB free of charge if you own a smartphone or tablet from the Samsung Galaxy series. If you use this Samsung cloud, you may now ask yourself if you can access it from a browser similar to Dropbox.

The answer to this question is unfortunately "no". At the moment, it is only possible to access the Samsung Cloud with a smartphone or tablet of the Galaxy series. A solution via the browser does not exist so far.
